Section J Compliance

Section J is part of the building code of Australia dealing with energy efficiency for class 2 – class 9 buildings.

The assessment will indicate where a building solution is proposed to comply with the deemed to satisfy provisions. It is the mandatory component of the BCA and describes the level of performance which must be met by the building materials, components, design factors and construction methods in order for a building to meet the minimum energy efficiency standards.

The assessment will indicate the materials used in the construction and show the additional requirements to achieve the minimum standard as required in section J 1. Section J2 refers to the glazing calculator which will show the level of performance needed for the glazing to meet the minimum standard. Section J3 also indicates the additional requirements to the envelope perimeter. Section J5, J6, J7 & J8 is not specific to the project but show the minimum standards that are required.
